Just like Goldilocks, you want the one that’s just right.
When it comes to decluttering the house, many homeowners stall out before they get started. Their vision of decluttering the place usually includes mountains of trash bags that have to be hauled to the curb — exceeding the trash bag limit for the week — or large items that are awkwardly hard to dispose of. Most neighborhood trash pickup services won’t take old furniture or other oversized items without prior arrangements, and often, an additional fee. If that’s not the route homeowners want to go, they can always load everything into the family pickup and haul it to the dump, paying a fee there instead.
What if you don’t have a truck? Then you have to get even more creative. Maybe it’s time to rent a dumpster.
Small Haul is the Area’s Kansas City Dumpster Rental Specialist
If decluttering the house has you pacing the floor with anxiety, pace no more! A roll-off dumpster rental may be just the solution to your problem. Small Haul Containers can get you set up with a small dumpster rental in no time.
Renting a dumpster makes decluttering and trash disposal so much easier. Residential dumpster rentals fit nicely on one side of the driveway, leaving plenty of room to maneuver during the decluttering process. When you rent a dumpster from Small Haul, we bring it out and set it up for you, taking care to protect your driveway in the process. All you have to do is haul your items out of the house and walk them into the dumpster. No heavy lifting is involved because the dumpsters have barn-style doors for easy access. At the end of the rental period, just give us a call. We’ll come back, pick the container up, and haul it away. It’s that easy!
Size Matters
When you visit Small Haul’s website, you’ll see we have dumpsters in several sizes. One of the questions we hear most often is, “How do I know what size I need?” Size does matter when renting a dumpster. You don’t want one that’s overly large; that’s just a waste of money. But you don’t want one that’s too small, either, or you may run out of room, putting the project in jeopardy.
Regardless of size, you’ll maximize the usable space in any dumpster if you break down boxes and other items when possible. Here’s a quick run-down of the dumpster sizes we carry at Small Haul Containers. This should help you determine which one is right for your needs. If you still have questions after perusing this, just give us a call. We’re happy to help.
6 Cubic Yards. This is the smallest of our small dumpster rentals. This size works well for minor decluttering and home cleaning projects, such as clearing out basements and garages or doing a light kitchen remodel. This dumpster holds up to 2,000 pounds of trash, equivalent to roughly three pickup truck loads.
10 Cubic Yards. Slightly larger, this small dumpster rental can easily handle small to medium-sized house projects. Jobs such as full kitchen or bathroom remodels, decluttering the attic, or tearing off an old deck easily generate enough refuse to fill this size of container. It can handle approximately four pickup truck loads of trash, up to 2,000 pounds.
13 Cubic Yards. Our medium-sized residential dumpster rental is about the size of an SUV. It holds up to two tons of trash by weight and approximately five truckloads in mass. This container works well for more extensive remodeling or small construction projects, including roof and fence repairs.
16 Cubic Yards. This roll-off dumpster rental holds up to six pickup trucks full of debris. That’ll get you through most of your larger home remodeling or reconstruction projects. Roughly the size of a minivan, this container holds up to two tons of waste and works well for fire or storm restoration projects.
20 Cubic Yards. If you have a super-sized job, our 20 cubic foot dumpster is the one for you. Our largest container is ideal for room additions, multiple remodeling or building projects, or large landscape projects. This dumpster holds the equivalent of eight pickup trucks of debris or a total weight of two tons.
Not Everything Goes In a Dumpster
There are a few items that can’t be put in a residential dumpster rental. Items that are hazardous, toxic, flammable, or infectious should be disposed of at special disposal centers designed for that purpose. Yard refuse can be added to a dumpster, but it must be separated from the rest of the trash. Check our FAQs for more information.
Bulky Pickup Is Also an Option
For those times when you just need to get rid of an old refrigerator or couch and don’t need an entire dumpster, Small Haul offers a bulky item pickup service. Just call us to schedule the time and date you want us to arrive. We’ll come by and make that item disappear!
